WHAT IS GENERAL SURGERY?
General surgery, as the name suggests, includes a wide range of surgical techniques for diagnosing and managing illnesses and injuries in any part of the body. Among other locations, its scope of interest includes the skin, breasts, belly, peripheral vascular, and head and neck.
This covers fundamental concepts from all surgical specialties, including anatomy, physiology, metabolism, immunology, nutrition, pathology, and wound healing. With the advent of endoscopy and minimally invasive surgical procedures that use precise instruments through time, incisions called portals, general surgery has made significant advancements. This section treats a wide range of systemic disease types in addition to elective/emergency cases about the abdominal contents. Simply said, disorders of the abdomen, breast, head, neck, blood vessels, digestive tract, traumas, deformities, and other conditions are treated by general surgeons. This division handles a variety of procedures, including appendectomy, breast reconstruction, colon, gallbladder, GERD, endocrine, esophageal, and hemorrhoidal surgeries.
DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SURGERY AT MEDSTAR
The Department of General Surgery is one of the major clinical departments in Medstar and one of the finest surgical departments in Dubai. Regardless of the extent of the treatment, our surgeons treat each patient with the highest professionalism and care. Currently, the department has twenty full-time consultants on call around the clock. OPDs are open from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm on weekdays and from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm on Sundays and holidays. Another benefit is that trauma surgeons are available around-the-clock. Our surgeons perform advanced minimal access/laparoscopic treatments and have decades of experience in the field.
Outpatient Services
Open to both new and returning patients every day of the week. Comprises procedures such as minor surgery, dressings, etc.
Inpatient Services
Several 50 beds are specifically designated for patient admission, examination, and care.
